DMK announces candidate for Ulunthoorpet as ally MMK not contesting

CHENNAI: DMK today announced its candidate to Ulunthoorpet constituency for the May 16 Assembly poll as ally MMK is not contesting from the segment.

The party high command announced G R Vasanthavel as the candidate as the Muslim party was "unable to contest," from the seat, it said.

The decision to field its candidate was arrived at following a consensus between the two parties, a DMK release said.

Earlier, DMK had allotted five seats to MMK, including Ulunthoorpet.
