Tamil Nadu CM C Joseph Vijay

The MPs from DMK, AIADMK, DMDK, MNM and PMK boycotted the meeting called by Tamil Nadu CM Vijay on delimitation on Saturday. MPs from TVK allies, Congress, VCK, CPI (M), CPI, MDMK and IUML attended the meeting.

Some MPs suggested that the state government should bring a resolution in the Assembly opposing delimitation. During the meeting, Vijay is learnt to have said it was unfortunate that parties which ruled TN for so long were not coming together when it came to protecting the interests of the state.

The opposition DMK criticised the state government and said the meeting was aimed at diverting attention from the important Cauvery water issue.

"In the current parliamentary session, there has been no official announcement that the Union government is going to pass the delimitation law. The revised draft bill has not yet been received either. On this issue, we have already stated TN's position in the resolutions of the all-party meetings held earlier. When the parties that unanimously passed those resolutions are still holding the same position, what is the need for the meeting being called by the Chief Minister," DMK leader Kanimozhi posted on X.
