DMDK MLA P Dinakaran, supporters taken into custody
COIMBATORE: DMDK MLA P Dinakaran and 50 of his 50 supporters were taken into custody today as they tried to stage a dharna in front of the District Collectorate office to protest against the office allegedly not accepting a memorandum on the 'neglect' of his constituency, Sulur.

Dinakaran had come to the Collectorate to submit a petition to the Collector Archana Patnaik in connection with development works in his area.

Police quoted the MLA as alleging that his constituency was neglected and that the administration had not carried out any development work there for the last few months.

As the Collector's office reportedly refused to accept the memorandum, Dinakaran and his supporters squatted in front of the entrance of the building.

However, police, who were present in large number, in view of Monday being grievances day, removed them and took them into custody, they said.
