DK Shivakumar struggles to keep government rifts and problems at bay

Ever since DK Shivakumar took over as the CM of Karnataka in June this year, the internal rift and problems keep unravelling in the Congress.

DKS is considered to be an effective manager within the party. However, he has not been able to find a balance among the leaders in the state. The latest is the resignation of the Congress MLA from Indi, Yashvantharayagowda Patil. The state is facing severe drought and Patil resigned because his constituency was not on the list of drought-affected regions. He sent his resignation to speaker GS Patil, who did not accept the resignation.

The issue was raised by the BJP in the assembly where leader of opposition R Ashoka attacked the Congress government, saying this was a certificate of drought management by the state. The CM, meanwhile, spoke to MLA Patil to convince him to withdraw his resignation and later his demands were met.

Another incident took place in the assembly when Congress MLAs Roopa Kala Shashidhar and SN Narayanaswamy from Bangarapet were seen engaged in a war of words.
