Shivakumar has been in the spotlight since his visit to Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev's Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore on Wednesday, where he shared the stage with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
This has raised eyebrows within Congress. Shivakumar clarified that he had no intentions of joining the BJP, asserting that he is a Congressman and a Hindu. He said the visit was based on a personal invitation from Sadhguru and his own beliefs.
However, several state Congress leaders have voiced concerns and demanded clarification and action from the party high command.
State Minister Satish Jarkiholi called for the party leadership to address the issue, as it has now spread beyond Karnataka. Another Minister, K N Rajanna, questioned the wisdom of sharing a stage with BJP leaders who often criticise Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Before this, Shivakumar had also praised the arrangements at the Maha Kumbh, calling the organisation of such an event a significant achievement. He had visited the Kumbh earlier in February and took a holy dip at the Sangam.
