DK Ravi's death: Opposition insists on CBI probe, government says no
35-year old D K Ravi, Additional Commissioner of Commercial Taxes (Enforcement), was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his room at his flat.

Even as BJP members in the Lok Sabha and Karnataka assembly forced adjournments of the Houses over the mysterious death of the IAS officer and demanded a CBI probe, the Congress central leadership is learnt to have conveyed to its beleaguered CM that it would be better to accept the popular demand for a CBI probe. The chief minister is expected to act after he receives a report from the state CID on the death of the officer, sources said.
The state administration, sources added, is confident the probe, “would prove the suicide theory”. BJP members in the Lok Sabha staged a protest in front of the Gandhi statue in Parliament House complex before raising the issue in the House.
Party MP Prahlad Joshi, who represents Dharawad in Karnataka, braved protests from Congress benches, to allege Congress state government’s handling of the probe was suspicious. Joshi questioned the credibility of the CID probe by pointing out that the agency reported to the state home minister whose business firms were under the scanner of the deceased officer.
