Divorce will have no impact on family bonds: Shweta's father

DEHRADUN: A day after Rahul Mahajan and Shweta Mahajan were granted divorce, father of Shweta Mahajan Brigadier Hem Chandra Singh today said the termination of marital relationship won't affect their relationship with the Mahajans.

"There is no question of the ties being snapped permanently between the families. Mahajan family still says that Shweta is their Bahu," Rahul Mahajan's father-in-law Brigadier Hem Chandra Singh, told the media.

He said that the reason for the couple divorcing was because Rahul and Shweta had irreconcilable differences.

He said that the whole family was aggrieved with the couple's divorce "We wanted both husband and wife to live happily together but their thinking didnot match and both mutually agreed to divorce. We tried to dissuade them and make them understand. No father wants her daughter to divorce."

Singh said, "It is quite obvious that the families would be pained by the ongoing events, but this will not stop us to maintain co-ordial relations with the Mahajan family."

Shweta a pilot in Jet Airlines is currently in village and as its services start she will be coming to Dehadun, he added.

There was no bitterness between the two families even after the divorce and Shweta's in-laws still love her like an daughter he said.

Rahul Mahajan, and his estranged wife Shweta were granted divorce on Friday by a local court in Gurgoan.
