Lok Sabha witnessed repeated adjournments on the opening day of the Monsoon Session on Monday as opposition members raised slogans and displayed placards demanding action over the alleged NEET paper leak and alleged donation theft at the Ram temple. Both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were eventually adjourned for the day amid the continuing uproar.

As soon as the Lok Sabha met at 11 am, opposition members began raising slogans, forcing Speaker Om Birla to adjourn the House till 12 noon as Question Hour was being taken up.

Birla objected to two members raising slogans while obituary references were being read out for six former MPs, saying it was not a good precedent.

When the House reconvened at 12 noon, the noisy protests continued, leading to another adjournment till 12:30 pm.

Before proceedings were adjourned, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal introduced a Bill to replace an ordinance increasing the sanctioned strength of the Supreme Court from 34 judges to 38, including the Chief Justice of India.

Similar scenes were witnessed at 12:30 pm, when repeated appeals by the Chair to take up Zero Hour failed to restore order. Dilip Saikia, who was presiding over the House, adjourned proceedings till 1 pm.

The disruptions continued through the afternoon, with opposition MPs persisting in their protests. As the stalemate remained unresolved, the Lok Sabha was ultimately adjourned for the day.

The Rajya Sabha also witnessed repeated disruptions over opposition demands, forcing multiple adjournments before it too was adjourned for the day.
