New Delhi: The no-confidence motion against Modi government in Lok Sabha will be taken for discussion on August 8 and the Prime Minister will reply on August 10, sources said.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday called a Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting to end the logjam in the house and to discuss legislative agenda for the remaining part of the session, they said.

At the start of the meeting, leaders of opposition parties including Congress Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and DMK's TR Baalu protested that bills are being passed while no-confidence motion should be given preference as per the convention.

After registering their protest opposition walked out of the meeting, stressing that no-confidence motion should be given precedence over bill as per the convention.

The meeting witnessed heated exchanges between opposition leaders and ministers from the ruling side.

While concluding the meeting, the Speaker allocated three days from August 8-10, for debate on non confidence motion.
