Dinesh Trivedi backtracks on mid-term poll comment

The railway minister on Thursday backtracked on mid-term polls and said that his remarks were blown out of proportion and were his personal views.

NEW DELHI: Senior Trinamool leader and Union railways minister Dinesh Trivedi had earlier raised the pitch for mid-term polls stating that TMC would be happy it.

According to Times Now, Union railway minister Dinesh Trivedi had reportedly said that general elections could come sooner rather than two years later.

The railway minister on Thursday, however, backtracked and said that his remarks were blown out of proportion and were his personal views.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Jayanthi Natarajan said we have a good relationship with all our allies and that there is no question of early polls. "UPA will complete its full term."

Congress leader Rajiv Shukla also said that there would be no mid-term polls. He also said that Congress has managed to increase its seats in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.

Reaching out to the allies, on Wednesday, after the poll debacle, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi had said that there was a need for regular contact with the allies.
