BJP state president Dilip Ghosh is likely to continue in his post despite the party’s poll debacle in West Bengal. There were also speculations that Tarun Chugh is likely to be the new observer for Bengal, replacing the Central Observer Kailash Vijayvargiya. Putting these speculations to rest, Tarun Chugh told ET, “I was on temporary charge in Bengal and I have completed the responsibility and have returned. Kailash Vijaybargia is the observer and he continues in that position.”

Meanwhile, Ghosh told ET, “I am the state president, and am strategising three things at the moment. First, to rehabilitate and help victims of post-poll violence. Many have been the target of violence and could not return to their homes after the assembly election”. “Secondly, we are streamlining our work to help people in this time of Covid. At the moment, we have a third task at hand – of helping people affected by Cyclone Yaas. We are focusing on these three issues,” he said.
