Digvijaya Singh takes dig at Rajnath Singh over Love Jihad remark

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Tuesday questioned Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s recent claim that he was unaware of the ongoing campaign over ‘love jihad. In a letter to Singh titled, ‘How can you not know what Love Jihad is?’ the senior Congress leader wondered, “you said you don’t know what love jihad is. I can’t believe that you are unaware of a term used in your home state, Uttar Pradesh, by leaders of BJP, VHP and the RSS.”

The AICC general secretary further asked the Home Minister; “May be, these days, you (Rajnath Singh) are not reading the Panchajanya and Organiser (RSS mouthpieces); the cover stories are on love jihad. You probably don’t even know that the Election Commission has passed strictures against your party’s Yogi Adityanath,” he added.

The AICC general secretary’s letter followed the Home Minister’s recent ducking of media questions on ‘love jihad’ by saying, “what is that? I need to understand its definition.”
