J&K parties have termed the Waqf (Amendment) Bill as anti-Muslim, aimed at disempowering the community across the country.

J&K CM Omar Abdullah said the bill targeted Muslims. "It is difficult for people like us to accept this bill," Abdullah told reporters here.

Former CM Mehbooba Mufti said BJP is running this country like Zia-ul-Haq did in Pakistan and it was unfortunate that leaders like Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar are supporting this bill.

Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Farooq said that none of the concerns and reservations put before the committee have been addressed. People's Conference chief Sajad Lone said waqf by definition is the custodian of properties collectively owned by Muslims and this bill is yet another right-wing trespass.

Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board chief Darakhshan Andrabi, a BJP leader, said this bill is not anti-Muslim.
