Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan arrested

Guwahati: Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan was arrested by the police for allegedly issuing a permanent resident certificate (PRC) on Friday.
Superintendent of police of the district, Abhijit Bora, told ET, "There was a complaint from the Congress party that the PRC has been issued. On Thursday, we have picked up a ward commissioner and after a proper inquiry and verification, have arrested Phukan," he said.
Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency went to polls on Thursday.
