SILIGURI: Three coaches of an express train went off the tracks on Wednesday, between Magurjan and Aluabari railway stations, about 50 km from New Jalpaiguri station.

The last three coaches, a parcel van and two general compartments, of the 5933 Down Dibrugarh-Amritsar express jumped the rails at 6:23 hours but there was no report of any casualty or injury, chief public relation officer of Northeastern Frontier Railway, T K Rava said.

The train was moving very slowly because of thick fog, he said.

The train resumed its journey after a couple of hours leaving behind the three coaches.

The assistant operating manager, A K Singh who was camping at the accident spot, told the media that work was on to repair the busy track, the arterial train line for the entire north eastern region.

The movement of trains, however, was on on one of the lines of the double track.
