Dhumal govt to recommend Khali's name for Padmashree

SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh government will recommend to the Centre to confer Padmashree on WWE grappler Dalip Singh Rana, populary known as Great Khali, for bringing glory to the country, Chief Minister P K Dhumal said today.
The state government will soon write a letter to the Centre in this regard, he told reporters here.
His government has recently honoured the World Wrestling Entertainment wrestler, a resident of Dhiraina village in Sirmaur district, for his outstanding achievements, Dhumal said.
Khali should be conferred civilian honour Padmashree for making the nation proud, he said.
Asked if his government would offer a job to its proud son Khali, the Chief Minister said he would definitely look into it if the wrestler was interested.
