NEW DELHI: India's ODI captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni opts out of Lankan series after complaining of a hectic schedule in the just concluded Asia Cup, according to media reports.

Dhoni has earlier hinted that he may skip the Test series against Sri Lanka later this month to take some much-needed break.

According to television reports Dhoni had talked to BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah and then took the decision.

"In India and the subcontinent we have a full year of cricket and there's no off-season. It's tough for cricketers. When we want rest we should get it," India's limited overs captain said on Monday.

BCCI selection committee will meet on Tuesday to pick the team for the Sri Lankan Test series.
