BHUBANESHWAR: Union Minister of petroleum and natural gas, Dharmendra Pradhan has taken up the cause of Odiya cuisine. In a letter to Chief minister Naveen Patnaik, the BJP Minister has, on behalf of the foodies in Delhi deprived on Odiya cuisine, has requested for Odisha Niwas Canteen to be reopened to the common man.

The letter claimed for more than 20 lakh Odias living in Delhi and the NCR region and others curious about Odia food their best bet to taste authentic Odia delicacies.

“Odia delicacies and cuisines are not only flavour full but also create a unique identity of Odisha in its own way…The canteen had carved a niche for itself. Unfortunately, since 2016, the canteen has restricted the entry of public and kept it open only for the in-house guest,” said Pradhan.

The Minister claimed he had got multiple complaints on social media from Odia cuisine deprived foodies. “I take this opportunity to request you for your personal intervention in the matter to open the canteen for common public,” said Pradhan.
