DGCA clears additional flights to check spike in fares
NEW DELHI: In an attempt to check spike in airfares on flights to Chandigarh, Amritsar and Jammu as trains passing through Haryana and Punjab have been cancelled and roads blocked, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has cleared additional flights by airlines today.

"DGCA has already cleared one additional flight on Delhi-Amritsar-Delhi of Vistara for today and one each additional flight on Delhi-Chandigarh-Delhi and Delhi-Amritsar-Delhi of Vistara for tomorrow," said a senior DGCA official, who did not want to be identified.

He added that Air India has also been requested to explore a flight tomorrow on Delhi-Jammu-Delhi sector. " IndiGo has informed they will mount additional flight on Delhi-Jammu-Delhi sector on August 29, 2017. Airlines have also been advised to keep a check on the airfares on these sectors," he further said.

Trains passing through Haryana and Punjab have been cancelled and roads in these states have been blocked after the conviction of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's conviction in a rape case led to protests by his supporters.
