MUMBAI: Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday unveiled the state's new tourism policy that promises an investment of Rs 30,000 crore in providing basic amenities across the state. Fadnavis said that the new policy would create 10 lakh jobs in the state and would double the income from the sector.
Unveiling the new policy in the state assembly, Fadnavis said the state would provide exemptions in luxury, entertainment tax and electricity duty and also give rebates on VAT. The state also plans to establish a tourism directorate with offices at Nagpur, Aurangabad, Amravati, Sindhudurg and Pune. Agro tourism, development of forts and better amenities and hospitality will be the prime focus of the new policy. The state would also provide incentives in the form of extra FSI to construct five-star hotels.The chief minister said that it would `provide grant for training of guides and for special courses for tourism development'.
