Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Saturday dismissed Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's claims linking Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra to urban naxal groups, and accused him of lying.

Speaking to the media, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Raut said, "Devendra Fadnavis speaks lie ...he spoke lie about Beed sarpanch killing and Parbhviolence. What does he know, who is Naxal."

On December 10, violence broke out in Parbhani city over the alleged vandalising of a replica of the Indian Constitution. On December 9, in Beed, the sarpanch of Massajog village, Santosh Deshmukh, was abducted and murdered.



Notedly, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has alleged that several organizations associated with Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra were undermining democracy, and promoting "Urban Naxalism."

On Friday, Maharashtra Congress Chief Nana Patole condemned Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' allegations against Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra saying "Congress is never involved in any anti-social activity."

"Congress is never involved in any anti-social activity. Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed their lives for the nation and the Constitution of India. Rahul Gandhi received a lot of support in the Bharat Jodo Yatra and he united the nation...I wrote a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis demanding a list of the organizations," Patole said.


In a letter, Nana Patole called for transparency and demanded CM Fadnavis provide a list of the "Urban Naxal" organizations and the heads of those organizations that participated in the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

"Progressive Maharashtra, various social organizations have been doing social work for many years and are working for the welfare of the poor and common citizens of the state. Such organizations are working to strengthen democracy in the state and country," Patole stated.

Further, speaking to reporters on Friday, Patole pointed out that Congress has "never" been involved in any 'anti-social' activity.
