MUMBAI: As part of its objective of ensuring ease of doing business in Maharashtra, the Devendra Fadnavis government has decided to make it easy for industrial establishments to implement various statutory safety norms.

The Industries Department has formulated changes in the procedure of visits by factory inspectors and boiler inspectors to industrial units, a senior official told PTI.

As a result, there will be curbs on factory visits by these inspectors, which in many cases led to allegations of corruption, the official said.

An industrial unit owner will soon be able to undertake a self-certification process with submission of an undertaking that he is abiding by all rules and regulations.

The government will shortlist 20 per cent units randomly through computerised process where the inspectors will visit.

The inspectors will then carry out visits at the selected industrial units to check whether these unit owners follow all the measures they have stipulated in the undertaking to the government, the official said.
