MUMBAI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today disapproved of Union Minister Giriraj Singh's controversial remarks against Congress President Sonia Gandhi and said he should have refrained from making such comments.

"I agree with our party President's ( Amit Shah) statement that we should refrain from using such language against anybody," he told PTI when asked for his reaction on Singh's remarks which has triggered a storm and led to nationwide protests by angry Congress workers and leaders.

Asked if the Union Minister's resignation should be sought over his "racist" remarks, Fadnavis said he would not like to comment on the issue any further.
