LUCKNOW: Former Prime Minister and JD(S) president H D Deve Gowda on Monday demanded that the Centre should constitute a technical committee to find a permanent solution to floods in Bihar.

"The floods have affected over 35-40 lakh people in Bihar due to changing of course of river Kosi. The problem of flood should be tackled scientifically and a technical committee should be formed in this regard", Gowda told reporters in an informal chat here after the party's state convention.

He also advised the Centre to initiate talks with Nepal on the issue saying a solution to the problem was possible through negotiations.

The former Prime Minister urged party workers and people in general throughout the country to support the flood-affected people of Bihar.
