ERODE: The Detailed Project Report for the proposed Rs 700 crore effluent treatment plants for small and medium textile and dyeing units in four western districts of Tamil Nadu would be prepared within the next five months.

The report would be prepared by district administration, Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) and the Tamilnadu Water Investment Corporation (TWIC) and submitted to government for approval, Erode District Collector S Prabhakar said.

Speaking to reporters last night after presiding over a meeting of the stake holders here, he said the project would be implemented with the financial assistance of state and central governments.

The project that would benefit Medium and small scale textile printers and dyers of Erode, Namakkal, Salem and Karur districts was announced by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in the assembly last year.

The plant would be installed and maintained jointly by the TNPCB, TWIC, Small Scale Industries Association and Handlooms and Textiles Department.
