Despite doctor's warning, BJP MP to be airlifted
The BJP is leaving no stone unturned before the trust vote on July 22, so much so that it is even willing to airlift its Malegaon MP from a Nashik hospital
The BJP will be airlifting 57-year-old Harishandra Chavan , who is immobilised and admitted in a Nashik hospital with serious injuries, to Delhi to make sure he casts his vote in the Lok Sabha, even if it means carrying him inside on a stretcher.
Doctors at the private hospital in Nashik, where he has been admitted since June 10, are aghast, but Chavan has no choice in the face of BJP's diktat. On June 10, Chavan was on his way to Niphad from Nashik when his car rammed a three-wheeler near Gondegaon Phata in Niphad taluka.
''He received multiple injuries a fractured backbone and hip bones and had to undergo two surgeries after he was brought to hospital,'' Dr Hemant Ostwal, who is treating him, said. '' He still can't move his right thigh, nor can he sit straight. Forget about walking.''
Speaking from his hospital bed, Chavan said he could not even use a walker. '' I am still bed-ridden and in pain,'' he said.
But sources said the BJP has told him its "special plane" would take him to Delhi either on Friday evening or Saturday morning. But Ostwal said Chavan going to Delhi '' would be against medical advice''.
