HYDERABAD: Industrial pumps maker DESMI India expects to touch a turnover of Rs 20 crore in the calendar year 2017 on the back of good demand for oil spill and pharma pumps, senior company executives said on Tuesday in Hyderabad.

The Denmark-based company in a bid to meet the growing demand established its first India facility on the outskirts of Hyderabad at an investment of $4 million and will be employing 100 people.

AVS Murthy, managing director, DESMI India said, “We expect the demand for pumps to increase with the upcoming Pharma City (a cluster of pharma companies in Hyderabad) along with rising demand for oil spill equipment from the ports. This increasing demand is helping us achieve a double digit growth taking our turnover to Rs 20 crore this year as against Rs 2-3 crore in 2013 when we started our business in India.”

It is also planning to work on the Clean Ganga project and is already the talks with the Union government. “A delegation of the Denmark government will be coming to India to study the Ganga project very soon,” said Henrik Sorensen, group chief executive, DESMI, adding that the discussions are currently at an initial stage.
