DERC cites ‘terror threat’ to deny RTI information
NEW DELHI: The capital's power regulator, Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission, has cited 'threat from terrorism' among reasons to deny information under RTI on the movement of official vehicles used by its members, secretary and three executive directors.

An RTI activist had sought access to entries in the vehicles' log books, after he had been denied biometric attendance details of DERC officials, to quell suspicion that these officials held meetings with power discoms outside the commission's jurisdiction.

In its reply, DERC said giving out this information "would not serve any public interest and could expose DERC officials to physical risks and intimidation, and impair their judgment in carrying out sensitive assignments".

It also quoted "terrorism and increased terrorist activities" to justify why the information could not be shared.
