JALANDHAR: Dera Sachkhand Ballan in charge Sant Surinder Dass Bawa said that sect head Sant Niranjan Dass, who was attacked in Vienna, was out of danger and was recovering fast.
"The sect head is out of danger and is recovering fast," Bawa, who was present at a meeting of local peace committee here, said.
He also appealed to the protesters to shun the path of agitation and pray for speedy recovery of the injured Dera head. "Its our duty to maintain peace and communal harmony. The agitation must end immediately," he said.
Representatives of various political and social organisations during peace committee meeting condemned the Vienna incident.
Local Bodies Minister Manoranjan Kalia, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Avinash Chander, MP Mohinder Singh Kaypee and former ministers -- Avtar Henry and Chaudhary Jagjit Singh -- attended the meeting.
Kalia said central and armed forces have been deployed at sensitive points while flag march would be conducted in affected areas.
"The state government will restore peace while observing restraint in handling the issue," he added.
"The sect head is out of danger and is recovering fast," Bawa, who was present at a meeting of local peace committee here, said.
