Dera case adjourned till Feb 4
A special CBI court here today adjourned the hearing of murder charges against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh till February 4.
Though Singh appeared in the court, amid tight security, the arguments on framing charges against him did not take place.
Singh's counsel S K was not present on MOnday and another lawyer Surya Prakash Garg appeared on behalf of the Dera chief.
Garg then prayed to the court to grant him some time so that he can go through the details of the case. The court accepted his request and Special Judge R K Saini adjourned the hearing till February 4.
The CBI had filed a challan against Singh and a few others in the murder cases of Dera functionary Ranjit Singh and Sirsa-based journalist Ramchander Chatterpati murder case. A case of sexual exploitation of Dera's sadhivies was also filed in this court.
Earlier, the court road was sealed and no private vehicles were allowed to cross there due to Singh's visit to the court.
A large number of police officials were deployed in the court complex.
Clad in his usual white kurta-pyajama with a red patka on his forehead, the Dera chief reached the court at 2.15 pm and remained there for about 10 minutes. Police and private security guards of Dera escorted him.
Later, he addressed his devotees in HUDA ground here.
