LUCKNOW: Dense fog today hit the movement of air, train and vehicular traffic as cold wave conditions prevailed in most parts of the state.

Fog occurred at most places in the state and cold conditions prevailed at isolated places over eastern Uttar Pradesh and few places over western part of the state, a MeT officer said here.

Night temperatures appreciably fell in Kanpur division and fell in Jhansi division. They were below normal in Moradabad division and normal in the remaining divisions of the state.

Lowest minimum temperature of 4.2 degree Celsius was recorded at Hamirpur.

Fog affected air traffic with at least four flights being delayed at the Amausi airport here, airport spokesman said.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav who was scheduled to fly to Gujarat to attend Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas programme could not make it because of bad weather.

Yadav was to fly from his home district Etawah but because of dense fog in the morning, his aircraft could not take off, official sources said.

As per a railway spokesman, several trains were running behind schedule because of the fog.

MeT office forecast that weather would be dry and dense to very dense fog would occur at most places and cold conditions would prevail at many places over western Uttar Pradesh and few places over eastern part of the state.
