Take note recall, surgical strikes to the people: Amit Shah

NEW DELHI: BJP Chief Amit Shah gave a clear message to his party at the national executive here that it should highlight Narendra Modi government’s decisive steps of a surgical strike and demonetisation among the masses, especially in the five pollbound states, to underline that they are committed to “zero-tolerance” against terrorism and eradication of black money from the economy.

In his address at the conclave, Shah emphasised that demonetisation will increase government’s revenue and tax collection as more money has come into the system. Previous governments were not able to collect all taxes but this government has managed to do so post-demonetisation and with more funds it has carry out more development work and undertake welfare measures for the poor.

“Since the last national council meeting in Kozhikode, two historic events have taken place. 12 soldiers were martyred in the Uri terror attack and we retaliated with a surgical strike that inflicted huge losses across the border. This has shown a new face of India and proved that BJP stands for zero tolerance towards terrorism,” HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said, quoting Shah.

The BJP Chief lamented that while the country had welcomed this bold step, the opposition had “unfortunately” called it “Khoon ki dalali” and one leader had even asked for proof of the surgical strike.

The party also sees the results of recent local bodies elections as an affirmation of the demonetisation move.

“8,000 of the 10,000 seats that went to polls (post-demonetisation) in various local bodies across states have been won by BJP,” Javadekar said. BJP will also focus on local issues in the 5 poll-bound states. In UP, it will tell the electorate about corruption, land grabbing and poor law and order.
