NEW DELHI: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today demanded immediate roll back of government's decision to demonetise Rs 500, Rs 1000 notes, saying the move is severely affecting the lives of common man.

"The newly launched demonetisation scheme is a financial calamity. Government should restore normalcy as there is no vegetable, milk in the market. It's a big black scheme," the West Bengal chief minister said while addressing media after meeting President Pranab Mukherjee.

She was accompanied by former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah and other member of parliaments form various parties.

"The President listened very carefully to us, he was finance minister and knows this country very well," Mamta said.

The West Bengal chief minister submitted that the move is financial calamity. She said, "The country was at peace but they have introduced disaster as demonetisation."

Leaders of the other opposition parties including Congress, Left parties, SP and BSP did not took part in the protest march.
