Demand for JPC on 2G scam baseless: Sachin Pilot

Union Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology Sachin Pilot on Saturday termed as "baseless" the Opposition's demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the 2G spectrum scam.

VADODARA: Union Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology Sachin Pilot on Saturday termed as "baseless" the Opposition's demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the 2G spectrum scam.

"Demand for JPC has no base...Our concern is that we should not undermine the established institutions such as PAC and CBI who have been investigating the scam," Pilot told reporters through video conferencing, after launching 3G service in seven cities of Gujarat here.

"Telecom department is also investigating it and the entire (spectrum allotment) process is being reviewed at various stages," he said, adding that the Winter Session of the Parliament was wasted due to the row over JPC.

People would "not forget and forgive" the Opposition for this, he said.
