Delta farmers to observe fast seeking release of Cauvery water

UDHGAMANDALAM: Seeking Karnataka to release 46 TMC of water from Cauvery, Tamil Nadu Cauvery Delta Farmers Association will observe one day fast in Chennai on Nov 4.

They also wanted to stop construction of dam across Mekedatu by Karnataka government as it would reduce the water flow to delta region, Coordination Committee of All Farmers Association in Delta districts president P R Pandiyan told reporters here today.

Stating that if the water was not released immediately, 25 districts in Tamil Nadu will be seriously affected from January, when the drought like situation would emerge, he said that about 18 lakh farming families will also be in trouble due to non-release of water.
