VIJAYAWADA (AP): The CPM workers on Tuesday staged a protest demanding that the delinking of the LPG cylinder subsidy from Aadhaar.

They also demanded the price of gas cylinder to be brought down to Rs 410.

CPM city Secretary Ch Babu Rao said, "The poor and illiterate have been facing hardships to get cooking gas after it was linked with the Aadhaar number."

"A large number of LPG consumers have not been able to enrol themselves for the Aadhaar due to various technical problems and also enable to open the bank account. In this complex situation, many consumers are unable to get the gas regularly," he said.

He criticised the UPA government for the rising inflation.

"The governments have increased the electricity tariff, bus fares, LPG price, among other things. The policies of the government have much impact on the prices of essential commodities. People have lost the confidence of the ruling party," he said.
