Delimitation shifts Advani votes to A’bad West

AHMEDABAD: Guess who moved prime minister hopeful LK Advani���s vote? For the last four terms, Advani and his wife Kamla used to cast their votes at a school in Shahpur which fell in Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency. But this time around when the Advanis cast their vote, it will be for the candidate standing for A h m e d ab a d (West) constituency since Shahpur is now in this constituency .

Dr Kirit Solanki is the BJP candidate from this seat. In 2004, Advani���s affidavit showed their residence as 1835/16, Kasturbhai block, Deendayal Bhavan, JP Chowk, Khanpur - the BJP office. This area was then a part of the Gandhinagar parliamentary constituency, from where Advani contested. Their residential address in the affidavit filed on Wednesday remains the same.

In his 2004 affidavit, Advani had declared that he owned a plot of land in Gandhinagar and this time he has shown a house on it. So unlike the last elections, Advani this time had the option of asking for a change in the electoral rolls by removing his name from Khanpur and including it in the Gandhinagar list. This will have enabled Advani, the candidate , to vote for himself. But that has not happened.
