NEW DELHI: The Capital is bracing itself for three days of disruption in normal life as traders begin their 72-hour strike against the sealing drive from Monday. While most markets are likely to be closed during the stir period, traders’ protests across the city may throw traffic out of gear.

With both Congress and BJP supporting the agitation, the police are preparing to face any eventuality, including the possibility of violence in some areas.

All major markets, including CP, Karol Bagh, Greater Kailash and Chandni Chowk, will remain closed and traders will sit on dharna in their respective areas, said Praveen Khandelwal, general secretary of Confederation of All India Traders. He said traders would do everything to make the bandh successful and ensure the MCD is prevented from going ahead with its sealing plan.

Major action planned for Monday morning is a gherao of the Vidhan Sabha which could severely affect traffic movement in north Delhi. Protest marches across the city are being planned over the next three days.
