Delhi Summit on Afghanistan very successful: US

WASHINGTON: The US today lauded the international investment summit on Afghanistan hosted by India in New Delhi, saying the meeting was "very very successful".

"It was a very, very successful meeting, and it brought lots of international business interest, including American interest, but also a huge amount of interest from Indian-based firms in investing, contributing to the growth, prosperity, economy of Afghanistan," State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland told reporters.

"We think that can only help," she said responding to a question on the summit on Afghanistan in New Delhi which was inaugurated by External Affairs Minister S M Krishna.

The meeting was also attended by Afghan Foreign Minister Zalmay Rasool.
