Delhi set to host meet aimed at 're-establishing Vedic India'

NEW DELHI: An international conference, which seeks to "re-establish Vedic India" by reviving interest in the Vedas, will start here from February 20 and is likely to see participation of a host of Union ministers, besides several international Vedic scholars.

The three-day conference, 'Re-establishing Vedic India', will be attended by 120 delegates from 40 countries, besides 200 from India, Swami Brahma Swarupananda, president of Foundation for Vedic India, said.

Tony Nader, a neuroscience researcher who worked with noted guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, would be the keynote speaker for the event.

"One of the unique features of this historic conference to re-establish Vedic India is the gathering of some of the highest intellectuals, scientists and scholars on one platform to present the Vedas in a scientific light.

"They will present the effect of the sound of recitation of Vedic mantras on the brain, heart and other parts of the body," Swarupananda said.

Union ministers Sushma Swaraj, Harsh Vardhan, Smriti Irani and Shripad Naik, among others, will be participating in the conference, he said.

Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi will be the chief guest and present "the complete infrastructure to re-establish Vedic India".

Noted Indian scientists Madhavan Nair and Vijay Bhatkar will also speak at the conference, Swarupananda said.

Eighteen speakers from India and 25 participants from foreign countries will be presenting their research papers and delivering lectures.

Another Vedic researcher, Bevan Morris, will speak on the topic, 'Vedic India -- Lighthouse of Peace for the World'.
