Delhi riots: Police Commissioner BS Bassi dismisses allegations of laxity
NEW DELHI: The post-Diwali communal clashes in the heart of the national capital may have raised serious questions about Delhi administration, but Delhi Police on Wednesday gave itself a clean chit. Police Commissioner BS Bassi dismissed allegations of indifference and laxity saying the force had made all arrangements after the advisory issued by the home ministry before Diwali.

"We have submitted a report to the ministry with factual details. Allegations of lapses on part of police are incorrect. There was no lapse. Police acted on time. People are happy with role played by Police." The mood on ground, however, is far from happy. Trilokpuri residents, especially Muslims, are resentful of the police for not acting on time and the media for not reporting the indiscriminate firing by an unidentified police officer that injured two teenage boys — Ajit and Arjun.
