New Delhi: After the Border Security Force (BSF), the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) offered monetary help to one of its men, retired head constable Aish Mohammed, after his house was gutted in communal riots in northeast Delhi.

The CRPF handed over a cheque of Rs 11 lakh to Mohammed at a simple ceremony at its headquarters in Delhi on Wednesday.

Mohammed’s house in Bhagirathi Vihar was “damaged and plundered by anti-social elements” during the riots on February 25, said the CRPF. “He (Aish) along with his son somehow managed to escape to safety with the help of their neighbour,” it said.

Officials of the force came to know about Mohammed’s plight through media reports and a decision was taken to stand by the retired jawan who had served the country for 22 years. “CRPF stands committed for the welfare of its personnel and their families,” said CRPF spokesman DIG Moses Dhinakaran.
