NEW DELHI: Temperatures in Delhi plummeted to 2.6 degrees on Saturday morning, the lowest levels this winter. It was also the lowest in the last half a decade. Mercury had fallen to 2 degrees on Decemer 30, 2013.

Saturday's minimum, at 2.6 degrees, was four notches below normal and the maximum, at 20°C, a degree below normal.

Delhi has been reeling under a cold wave for the past few days. Cold wave like conditions are likely to continue for two more days, with the minimum for Sunday seen at 2 degree. The maximum temperature on Sunday is likely to hover around 21 degrees, MeT official said.


The coldest day this winter was December 22 (1.4°C), followed by December 27 (1.5°C). Other days of sub-3 degree mercury were December 21 (2.4°C), December 24 (2.7°C) and December 23 (3.7°C).
