Delhi polls: Not 5, let’s debate 50 questions, says AAP to BJP

NEW DELHI: The five questions asked by BJP yesterday did not manage to ruffle many feathers in Aam Aadmi Party. In fact, senior members said that if BJP was so keen to ask questions, it was surprising that it continued to run away from a debate between the chief ministerial candidates and instead chose to target AAP in a unilateral way.

Senior party functionary Yogendra Yadav said, "Not five, let us debate 50 questions. We invited BJP for a debate but they ran away. It has run away even from its manifesto, so how can we take their damp squib questions seriously?"

Meanwhile, party supporters on social networking sites decided to make light of the issue. Under the hashtag #StupidBJPQuestions, it released AAP's answers to BJP's questions. Each image has the question asked by BJP on top and the photograph of a child giving AAP's response. The first, where BJP says that Kejriwal went back on his promise of not taking support from Congress to form government, the reply is: "We did not take support, it was forced on us. Without consulting us, a letter was sent to the LG. We agreed only after asking the people of Delhi. You did not support the Jan Lokpal which is why we resigned."

On why Kejriwal failed to file FIRs against former chief minister Sheila Dikshit on charges of corruption, the reply is: "Filed five FIRs in the CWG scam. You only weakened the anti-corruption bureau which did no investigation." Replying to charges that Kejriwal had taken security after saying that he would not accept security, the response was: "Where and when did he take security? What you are calling security was only a way of managing the crowds."

To the question of why Kejriwal travelled in Metro for his oath-taking ceremony, but moved to big cars subsequently, AAP said that Kejriwal still does not have a car. "When he went by Metro BJP said that the public faced a problem, which is why he is travelling in a donated car."

To the last question where BJP has alleged that Kejriwal used the service of a private jet for returning to Delhi from Gujarat and only travelled by business class, the response is: "The business class ticket was given by the organizer of the event. Kejriwal did not buy it."
