Delhi polls: Kejriwal, Sisodia, Kumar Vishwas take a day off after exit polls predict win for AAP
NEW DELHI: A day after the exit polls predicted an emphatic victory for AAP in Delhi, party leaders spent most of their time relaxing in the company of their family and friends on Sunday. While many party volunteers caught up on lost sleep on Sunday, a few accompanied Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Kumar Vishwas to watch Akshay Kumar’s Baby at a multiplex in Ghaziabad in the afternoon. Kejriwal, who has addressed 110 public meetings in the last two months, started his day with yoga and spent the morning with family. “I played chess with my son after ages today,” Sisodia told ET.

Despite the upbeat mood after the exit polls, the party is not leaving anything to chance as AAP has posted its volunteers near the strongroom sites to guard EVMs from any tampering. The voting machines are stored in nine different locations across Delhi. “We have about five to six volunteers keeping an eye on the movement of people in and out of the stronghold premises,” said AAP leader Dilip Pandey. AAP volunteers are keeping vigil in shifts. “We want people to be there round the clock and so we have prepared a roster for 6-hour shifts,” he said. This is first time that the party has deployed volunteers at EVM strongrooms.

Kejriwal had made an allegation of EVM tampering this month alleging some voting machines were recording all votes in favour of BJP irrespective of the button pressed. This charge was rejected by the Election Commission, which assured AAP that the machines were error proof and cannot be tampered with. “We do not trust the dirty tricks department of BJP and are leaving nothing to chance,” Pandey said.
