Delhi polls: Kaisa laga, BJP's Kiran Bedi asks about her women safety plan at rally
NEW DELHI: "Kaisa laga?" asked Kiran Bedi, BJP's chief ministerial candidate, after she shared her blueprint on women safety at the rally in Dwarka on Sunday.

Addressing a large crowd, mainly comprising villagers and residents of unauthorized colonies and slums, she said, "I have a blueprint ready for women's safety. I'll not elaborate on it as I have already spoken about it in yesterday's rally. Aur yeh mere Twitter handle (#KiransBlueprint) par hai."

From raising an army of 15,000 civil defence volunteers to creating skill development centres, Bedi kept asking people "kaisa laga" after each point knowing that the crowd would definitely approve her plans. She also announced plans to rope in students for policing work. "Like in Kerala, Delhi will also have student police. Students will be attached with police stations and get a chance to accompany cops on patrolling duty. Are you ready to work with police?" asked Bedi. As the crowd shouted 'yes', she said, "Yeh mauka aanewala hai (This opportunity will come soon)." She also asked them to repeat this after her.

In her 12-minute speech, she promised more skill development centres and even got an assurance from MoS skill development and entrepreneurship, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, who was also present on the stage. She asked the minister, "Will you help us? He will help us setup skill development centres in all colonies. Achha laga (Did you like it)?"

Though it was her second big rally, she got a good response from the crowd. Her image of a strict and disciplined police official and constant stress on women's safety seems to have made an impact on people. Standing in the front row, Suman Gehlot, a resident of Najafgarh, attentively heard Bedi. "In my area, girls and women don't feel safe while travelling alone. Yeh zaroor kuch karengi (She will definitely do something concrete)," she said.

Apart from women's safety, Bedi also spoke about starting a sports university, a special train for youth to travel and explore northeast India, scheme for optimal utilization of stadiums, among other things.
