Delhi polls: Iron lady will run over I-run man, says BJP on Arvind Kejriwal's challenge

NEW DELHI: BJP today termed as "another drama" AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal's challenge to Kiran Bedi for an open debate ahead of Assembly polls, saying Delhi now needed development and the "Iron lady" will run over the "I-run man".

Taking a jibe at the AAP head, BJP spokesman Sambit Patra said voters would not allow him to resurface in Yamuna after he had "drowned" in the Ganga, a reference to his drubbing by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi constituency in Lok Sabha polls.

Holding that the Aam Aadmi Party was "all about publicity", he said Bedi was an "Iron lady" who will run over the "I-run man" in Delhi elections, a reference to the AAP chief.

He "ran" from Delhi to Varanasi to become Prime Minister and when he was needed to debate in Assembly, he "quit", Patra said.

"Kejriwal has resorted to the same drama again. He stands for 3Ds: drama, dharna and debate. BJP as a political party too stands for 3Ds: development, democracy and delivery... Let the people of Delhi decide if they wan another dramatic debate or development and delivery," he told reporters.

Bedi, too, has rejected Kejriwal's offer for a public debate, saying she would debate on the floor of Assembly.

Questioning Kejriwal's commitment, Patra claimed the AAP leader had begun living in a hut on the banks of Ganga in Varanasi and said he would serve people there all his life.

"What happened if he lost? Didn't he have any commitment? It's a battle between cause and ambition, administration and anarchy, and drama and development," he said, saying Bedi stands for development and administration.

On AAP's potshot at Bedi for blocking Kejriwal on Twitter, Patra said she had blocked him more than a year back when he had called himself an anarchist while she was far from joining politics.
