In the Geeta Colony SDM office, where candidates from east Delhi have been filing nominations, Monday witnessed an interesting contrast between Congress and AAP. In the morning, Brahm Dev, Congress' candidate from Trilokpuri, arrived almost unnoticed at the office. Some party supporters were waiting for him at the entry but the main crowd gathered while Dev was inside.
Much before Dev finished, AAP's senior member and former MLA from Patparganj, Manish Sisodia, arrived with his team. The AAP crowd, boisterous and dancing to the party's theme song 'paanch saal Kejriwal', finally forced the Congress supporters to raise their pitch. The cross-sloganeering continued for close to 20 minutes till Dev finally emerged out of the SDM office.
When Sisodia finally finished the process, his team bumped into another AAP team, that of Laxmi Nagar candidate Nitin Tyagi, who had handled Sisodia's campaign in 2013 and driven him to the same office for filing nomination in 2013. Congress' Naseeb Singh also filed his nomination on Monday.
Meanwhile, the CEO office continued to crack down on violators of the model code of conduct. In all, 106 FIRs have been lodged against various parties for violations of norms and 1,402 illegal hoardings have been removed.
