Delhi polls: Didn't call Kiran Bedi a 'thanedaar', BJP's Manoj Tiwari claims
Tiwari had reportedly said that "Delhi needs a leader, not a thanedaar." Sources said the party's top brass asked him to refrain from making such comments.

Tiwari had reportedly said that "Delhi needs a leader, not a thanedaar." Sources said the party's top brass asked him to refrain from making such comments. At a time when BJP is likely to project Bedi as its chief ministerial candidate, such comments affect BJP's image.
Speaking to TOI, Tiwari said, "Things are being blown out of proportion. I never referred to her as thanedaar. The TV reporter kept saying that Bedi's style of working is like a thanedaar and party workers are unhappy. All I said was that in politics we don't need a thanedaar. It was a general comment. Like all BJP workers, even I welcome her in the family."
The MP said that he intentionally avoided the tea party hosted by Kiran Bedi. "I wanted to avoid the tea party as I wasn't sure why it was called. She has not been declared the CM candidate as yet. The decision has to be taken by the BJP parliamentary board. If the party decides to project her as the CM face, then I'll meet her and brief her about my constituency," he said.
On Monday, had reported that most MPs were upset about being asked by the party to meet Bedi at her residence. Though she has not been projected as the CM face, Bedi is calling the shots in the party. She is holding meetings with municipal councillors, MPs and senior leaders. BJP's decision to field Bedi in Delhi elections and reports of her likely projection as its CM face has led to resentment among party workers. The party has directed all party workers to refrain from making any statement about Bedi in the media. The state unit has been told to extend full cooperation to Bedi in her election campaign.
