Delhi polls: Congress decimated, BJP marches ahead; AAP make impressive debut

BJP was inching towards wresting power by leading in 34 seats in the 70-member Assembly while AAP made a strong entry by being ahead in 24 seats.

NEW DELHI: Opposition BJP was inching towards wresting power in Delhi by leading in 34 seats in the 70-member Assembly while debutant AAP made a strong entry by being ahead in 24 seats.

Ruling Congress was leading in only nine seats while others were ahead in three constituencies.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit is trailing behind Arvind Kejriwal (AAP) by around 1500 votes in the New Delhi constituency.

BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate Harsh Vardhan was leading in his Krishna Nagar constituency by 5,000 votes.

All Congress Ministers including A K Walia, Kiran Walia, Harun Yusuf and Raj Kumar Chouhan were trailing in their respective seats, pushing the party's tally to the third place.

Revenue Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely was the only Minister who was leading in Gandhi Nagar seat.
